Tagetes lucida, also known as African or Mexican tarragon and yauhtli, belongs to the sunflower family. It is a light green plant with yellow-orange flowers that grows in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico.

During ceremonies, the Huichol get visions when they smoke or drink the herb. In many places around the world, the herb is also used fresh in various dishes due to its good, anise-like taste.
