CBD stands for cannabidiol, a compound extracted from cannabis plants and one of the main compounds in the hemp plant. Unlike THC in marijuana plants, CBD is not psychoactive and therefore does not alter a person's state of mind when consumed.

CBD, which is extracted from hemp and contains less than 1% THC, has been legal throughout Switzerland since the beginning of 2016. In Europe, the permitted level is less than 0.3% THC.

As long as these contain less than 1% THC, they are allowed and may be planted at home as CBD hemp plants. There is no restriction on the number of individual plants.
