FAQ – Backflow Incense Cones
What is a backflow incense cone?
A backflow incense cone is a special type of incense cone designed so that the smoke flows downwards. When used with a backflow incense burner, this creates a hypnotic waterfall effect – ideal for meditation, relaxation, and visual aesthetics.
How do backflow incense cones work?
The cones have a hole in the center through which the smoke is drawn downwards when properly lit and with adequate air circulation. A suitable reflux incense holder or reflux oven is required.
How do you properly light backflow incense cones?
Hold the tip of the cone in a flame for about 10–15 seconds until it glows evenly. Then carefully blow it out and place it on the reflux holder. Ensure the air is still so the effect is clearly visible.
Is it possible to make backflow incense cones yourself?
Theoretically, yes, but it's difficult to precisely replicate the correct consistency and smoke pattern. Purchased cones, like those from Green Tree, guarantee even burning and the desired effect.
Are there unscented backflow incense cones?
Yes, there are also neutral backflow cones without fragrances. These create the visual effect without any additional aroma – ideal for allergy sufferers or rooms where no fragrance is desired.
Which fragrances are particularly popular?
Popular varieties include palo santo, white sage, lavender, and sandalwood. Green Tree also offers themed cones such as "Reiki," "Happy Yoga," and "Native Soul," each with its own coordinated fragrance profile.
Do I need a special container for backflow incense cones?
Yes. Only backflow incense burners with a downward air channel allow for the typical "smoke waterfall". Normal holders are unsuitable for this.
How often can you use backflow incense cones?
A single cone typically burns for 10–20 minutes. For regular use, a supply bundle (e.g., incense bundles with 10–24 pieces) or a starter set is recommended.
What to do if no smoke flows downwards?
This could be due to drafts, damp cone material, or an unsuitable container. Make sure the cone is dry, the hole is not blocked, and there are no drafts interfering.
Are backflow incense cones vegan and sustainable?
Our Green Tree backflow cones are free from petrochemical additives, cruelty-free and produced under fair conditions – for natural incense magic with a clear conscience.
