The PAX 3 is less than four inches tall and has an oven that can hold about a third of a gram. You should get 15-25 hits from a fully packed oven, making it perfect for extended sessions on the go.

New for the PAX 3, the Complete Kit includes a use of concentrate that goes straight into the oven. "Two-in-one" concentrate/dry herb vaporizers aren't usually my favorites. I'm more of the "right tool for the job" type, so I was pleasantly surprised when I tested some nice extracts for this PAX 3 review. It worked quite well! If you mostly vape concentrates you might want to build something specifically for that, but the PAX 3 works great if you want to add a little extract to your life here and there.

The PAX 3 puts out a very dense vapor that is smooth and tasty. The production unit we tested for our PAX 3 review hit the highest of four temperature settings in about 30 seconds. With the smartphone app, you can fine-tune the temperature settings in one-degree increments.

The first two temps taste light vapor and the last two deliver thicker clouds with a bit more punch. We like high-temperature vape and like to start our sessions on the 3 or 400°F setting. We typically end sessions on the highest temperature and love the flexible, no-hassle shut-off timer. We can adapt to the sessions at our own pace instead of the allotted five minutes.
All PAX Vaporizer have the same smart design, with the oven as far away from the mouthpiece as possible, at the bottom of the device. This spacing, coupled with the isolated airpath and flush mouthpiece, cools the vapor extremely well for a smooth, cool draw.
We love the PAX 3's simple, intuitive controls. A single, hidden button on the mouthpiece controls it all, and the signature "flower petal" lights tell you everything you need to know.
One push of a button and it's on. Press again, it's off. Need to change the temperature? Just press and hold the button for a few seconds to enter temperature change mode. We really appreciate the move away from all the button clicks that other manufacturers use.
The PAX icon on the front has four LED lights that show you everything from battery level to current temperature, to when the device is heating up and when it's ready to use.
Don't like pressing buttons and want to check battery life or exit temperature mode? Instead, just shake it. The PAX 3 also vibrates when it's ready, so you'll know what's going on when you're not looking!
That's the kind of stuff we like! Conduction vapes cook our herbs even when we don't consume them (except the Magic Flight Launch Box ). In response, the PAX 3 uses lip sensor technology and an accelerometer to tell the device when you're vaping and not, dynamically adjusting the temperature to save your herb and battery life.
Turn the PAX 3 down and the temperature will drop after 30 seconds. Pick it up or put it to your lips and the PAX 3 will ramp up to your set temperature in an instant. This feature works even better with the more powerful heater of the PAX 3 compared to the PAX 2.
The auto shut off timer is done right. After three minutes of inactivity, the PAX 3 will turn itself off. There's no set timer, so the PAX adapts to your session duration rather than dictating your pace.
PAX has stepped up and developed a smartphone app for more vaporization options. By connecting your PAX 3 to your phone, you'll unlock a wave of new features and customizations. You can change the temperature in one-degree increments, play games on command, lock the device, and configure the lighting and haptic feedback. It's a well-equipped app that unlocks a variety of features for the PAX 3.

We got an average of 90 minutes of vapor time on a full charge when testing for this PAX 3 review. With no timer set and the oven turning on and off as needed for efficiency, it's hard to compare the PAX 3's battery life to other vapes.
We like to relax while vaping, and some of our sessions can last up to ten minutes, but we still used three evenings before the PAX 3 had to be docked for a fee. Charging with the supplied USB-Dock takes about 90 minutes . It's hard to quantify with this vape, but we feel it has one of the best battery life available. We never worry about running out of juice.
Staying true to form, the PAX 3 features a stainless steel oven and steam wand that merges into a Silikonmundstück at the opposite end of the device. All materials are medical grade and considered safe for vaping. The heating element, according to PAX, is a "non-ceramic thin-film tuned heater" that is connected to the furnace and outside of the vapor path.
The draw resistance depends on how tight you pack the PAX 3, who likes to pack it tight. We were a little surprised at how good it felt with a tightly packed oven. Some vapes stall on a cramped oven, but the PAX 3 liked it.
The PAX 3 is a durable little vape with no moving parts or glass to break. The outer shell is made of anodized aluminum. It's sturdy, and we're not worried about tossing it in a bag or in a pocket with keys or a phone. It is ideal for sessions on the go and outdoor activities.
It briefly sported a polished finish, but is now draped in a matte finish that should better hide any minor dents or scratches that might accumulate.

Despite this being one of the smartest portable vapes out there, there are still some best practices when it comes to the PAX 3.
Grind your material as finely as possible by turning your grinder upside down and grinding longer than usual.
The original PAX was a hassle to clean, but that has been fixed with the PAX 3, leaving you with three things to take care of: the oven, the mouthpiece, and the vape wand. The PAX 3 comes with isopropyl alcohol (ISO) and some pipe cleaners. Grab a couple of Q-tips and maybe some cotton swabs and you've got all you need to get the job done.
Aside from the matte finish rather than a brushed finish, the PAX 3 looks identical to the PAX 2. The PAX 3 has a more powerful battery that heats up quicker and lasts a bit longer than the PAX 2. The PAX 3 Complete Kit comes with a concentrate cartridge which works really well and is the biggest difference between the two vapes in our opinion. The Pax 3 adds haptic feedback and the smartphone app. If you look at the PAX 3 Basic Kit and the PAX 2, the gap narrows, but so does the price difference.
The PAX 3 is a great all round vape that travels well and can be used every day. It's also good for the home when you don't want to be tied to the wall with something. It's durable, discreet, and has great battery life that should satisfy most. The concentrate insert works surprisingly well - well enough to make the PAX 3 one of the better dual-purpose portable vapes out there.
Although it has many features, we think it's a great vape for beginners. It's easy to pack, easy to use, and gets the job done without fuss.
