Griffonia Extract by Smart Choice

5-HTP, or 5-Hydroxy Tryptophan, is the precursor to the important neurotransmitter serotonin, which regulates some vital processes in the body such as sleep, emotional stability and sensitivity to pain. Clinical studies show that 5-HTP helps increase serotonin levels in the brain. A deficit in this neurotransmitter plays a role in a number of conditions: depression, insomnia, anxiety, migraines and binge eating.*

warning

+

Excessive intake of 5-HTP, especially in combination with vitamin B6, causes the liver to convert 5-HTP into serotonin, which can lead to heart valve damage or disease (cardiac fibrosis). In combination with an MAO inhibitor or SSRI, 5-HTP can cause acute serotonin syndrome.
